Day 2
Francis Alys - Game Over - This video made me want to make a video of myself crashing my friend's GoCart (not a car because money) over and over several times as cartoon lives tick off the scree, and the go cart "respawns" where I first started. After my last life the screen would say 'Game Over' in big letters.
Olafur Eliasson - The Weather Project - My idea for this project can be summed up by the simple question: "What would a room made of only mirrors look like?"
Janet Echelman - I would put a whole bunch of metal or wood poles into the ground in a big empty field and then wrap green string around and through all of them so it looks like a large forest.
Tomás Saraceno - On Space Time Foam - This project inspired me to lay a large black cloth over a dip in grass with hills around it like a large bowl. I would fill the center with black foam cubes. People would be allowed to roll into the center. It would be titled Black Hole.
Igor Grubic - To protest the slavery that still exists in the world I would put two huge red shackles connecting two huge buildings downtown.
Rafael Lozano Hemmer - Voice Tunnel - I would set up a system in Wingfield that would let people take pictures of themselves that would then project their faces onto the river, and then when the next person takes a picture the last person's projection "floats on" down the river.
Democracia - This one made me want to make a very cool music video, as well as awesome cinematic music.
Pawel Althamer - Sciezka - I would like to replace all the signs leaving Reno with the word "Adventure" and then all the signs entering Reno with "Home."
Think Again - I would put "Question Everything" in big letters on moving and delivery trucks.
Joana Vasconselos - A Joia do Tejo - This art piece made me want to tie a whole bunch of balloons to the top of my house or some other building. Enough balloons for people to see for miles.
The idea that I liked the most from the first 10 artists was my idea to set up microphones around the Reno arch that transmit to a telescope somewhere up on peavine that is looking at the Arch. There would be signs around explaining that they are connected via time and space to another location.
The idea that I liked the most from the second 10 artists is the last one. I really like the idea of a whole bunch of really obvious balloons strapped to a building, with little to not explanation. I think the fantastical sight will really encourage people to think big, and about their dreams and aspirations and why they are where they are.
